All Nineplus surfboards are shaped in California using bespoke reduced rocker blanks produced by US Blanks and once shaped traditionally crafted with beautiful resin work which often includes authentic volan glassing. Some of the best surfboards available and all made by hand, all the way through.

THE MAGIC CARPET

Basically, a Longboard with the centre 2½ft chopped out, the ‘Magic Carpet’ is the board of choice for many reasons. It has the same width in the nose, tail and centre point as a traditional Longboard, meaning it paddles and picks up waves very easily while remaining stable in the bigger waves and pulling power out of the smaller ones. In contrast to a longboard however the reduced rail line allows you to turn much tighter and so the boards feels more responsive.

The rounded pintail keeps the board in the face of the wave while the full rails keep the board buoyant and smooth through the turns. We use a bespoke ‘Magic Carpet’ blank to get the board as flat as possible which enables it to paddle, catch waves & trim easily. The ‘Magic Carpet’ also draws as much speed as possible from the wave as a flat rocker keeps the flat surface of the bottom connected to the power within the wave. The Magic Carpet also has a lot of volume throughout and this is carried right through to the nose & tail. There is just enough lift left in the nose to avoid pearling (nosediving) while keeping the board working.

Ideal wave height: 2ft-6ft.

Fin set-up: Centre fin box with optional side bites.

Rails: Round 50/50 rails with a performance tail rail.

Available in 7’0”, 7’2”, 7’4”, 7’6”, 7’8” & 8’0”

THE OSPRAY

New for 2018 we are remaking ‘The Ospray’ model again in Hermosa Beach, California. Using bespoke US Blanks with offset glue lines (red) the board is finished in an amber resin tint and high gloss polish.

This model is given its name as when we started making it in 2004 we refused to allow it to be made with a spray but would only use resin work. As it was so full of glide we worked the name from the ‘Osprey’ bird while adjusting it to ‘Ospray’ (Zero Sprays)

The shape of this board is very smooth with a very slight rolled bottom. Serious nose concave for stalling the board back into the pocket and slowing it down to really get some ‘tip time’ The template of this model is originally taken from the ‘David Nuuhiwa’ model from 1965 but its obviously been updated and made lighter. Finished in an amber tint, flawless.

Ideal wave height: 1ft-4ft.

Fin set-up: Keel centre fin in a box.

Rails: Slightly pinched 50/50 rails with a 60/40 upturned tail rail.

Available in 9’4”, 9’6” & 9’8”

THE DON

The Don’ is the boss of all our surfboard models due to its overall size and beauty.

However, its heavy persona is complemented by the soulful ease of the riding experience. It has a flat rocker, with plenty of volume throughout the centre of the board and a really soft, pinched rail right the way through to a 60/40 upturned tail rail. Traditionally, these boards are finished in a beautiful resin tint with thick pin lines reflecting the quality of workmanship that goes into the production of each board. Shaped with a diamond tail, it is perfect for traditional surfing or ‘easy’ surfing in small to medium conditions. The board comes complete with a centre ‘keel’ fin.

Ideal wave height: 1ft-4ft.

Fin set-up: Keel centre fin in a box.

Rails: Slightly pinched 50/50 rails with a 60/40 upturned tail rail.

Available in 9’4”, 9’6” & 9’8”

THE NEVILLE TRIBUTE

Designed as a tribute to Mark Neville, a legend in the British surf scene and highly respected throughout the world for his skill at crafting surfboards.

Mark produced boards of outstanding quality, something we replicate in everything we do here at Nineplus. Voted as Best UK Longboard shaper in 2009’s Carve surf poll, to this day Mark Neville boards command a high price.

Since Kris Hall has joined Nineplus as a team rider and shaper, he has used his skill to produce some incredibly fine surf boards including the hotly anticipated Mini Magic carpets. Now we have felt it is time to resurrect some of our most iconic boards, to be cured in the sunny UV rays of California.

Ideal wave height: 1ft-4ft.

Fin set-up: Keel centre fin in a box.

Rails: Slightly pinched 50/50 rails with a 60/40 upturned tail rail.

Available in 9’4”, 9’6” & 9’8”

The Pipeliner

The Pipeliner model is shaped by Maxx Dexter and based on the Phil Edwards model

As written by Maxx: “The Pipeliner model which is the triple stringer is an all around board. Rolled bottom through out allows for smooth rail to rail transition and maneuverability. You could ride this board in any surf from beachbreak mush to solid point breaks. Off record; I think surfers have this preset notion that in order to nose ride you need a wide nose, flat rocker, concave and hips but I feel that just restricts you. A pulled in nose allows for more maneuverability to put the board in more critical places on the wave. I do agree that a wide nose with concave makes it easy to nose ride but I feel that the more advanced surfer needs to give this a try. I just started making boards for this local kid and he tried my 10’3’ with a pulled in nose and roll. First wave he got he went straight to the nose and got such an epic nose ride. He came back out tripping out on how good the board nose rides.”

Ideal wave height: 1ft-4ft.

Fin set-up: Single Fin Box: Red signature Nineplus ‘Trim King’ Fin.

Rails: Slightly pinched 50/50 rails with a 60/40 upturned tail rail.

Available in 9’4”, 9’6” & 9’8”

THE SPEED SHAPE

One of the newest Nineplus Surfboards, this is the ‘Speedshape’ model. Almost like a pulled out mid-length template, this board is very flat and built for speed. Slightly pinched rails, downturned railed all the way through with an sharper edge into the tail. Finished in 12oz volan with gloss & polish over a dark wood stringer.

Minimal branding with just the small Nineplus Joplin logo top and bottom.

THE NOSERIDER

Our classic ‘Noserider’ longboard model designed and shaped by Kris Hall in Hermosa Beach, CA. Similar to the Allrounder but pulled in a little more into the tail, this board has a very smooth shape. Slightly pinched but soft rails all the way through into the tail but moving into a 70/30 upturn rail in the tail and with extra tail kick (lift) for holding the nose up. Finished in 12oz volan with gloss & polish over a dark wood stringer.

THE ALLROUNDER

Part of the new range of Nineplus Surfboards, introducing the Allrounder model, an updated version of the Don. A really smooth template with a little roll through the belly. Soft slightly upturned rails all the way through the board with an upturned 40/60 rail into the tail. Finished in 12oz volan with gloss & polish over a dark wood stringer.

Minimal branding with just the small Nineplus Joplin logo top and bottom.

THE PORCUS

The Porcus model is shaped by Maxx Dexter and based on the Pig shape/style model. A very smooth template with a wider hip, slightly rolled bottom makes surfing very easy and full of glide for smaller waves.

As written by Maxx: “The Porcus is one of my my favorites. There is nothing like it. Rolled bottom throughout. Less rocker in the nose and more rocker in the tail give it that classic pig feel. Softer rails in the nose and tail with 50/50 rails in the center. This board is made for smaller waves chest high and under.

Ideal wave height: 1ft-4ft.

Fin set-up: Single Fin Box: Keel centre fin.

Rails: Slightly pinched 50/50 rails with a 60/40 upturned tail rail.

THE MINI PORCUS

Shaped by Maxx Dexter, the Mini Porcus model is the baby brother of the Porcus. Based on a Pig shape/style.

Rails: Slightly pinched 50/50 rails with a 60/40 upturned tail rail.

Available in 8’6”

THE DARK HORSE

Shaped by Maxx Dexter in California, the Dark Horse is a performance model made for quality waves around waist high and up. It has a very slight roll in the nose leads to flat through the center and V through the fin. Pinched slightly down rails put more rail in the water to help make this board drive through turns.

Ideal wave height: 4ft-8ft.

Fin set-up: Tribute centre fin in a box.

Rails: Round 50/50 rails with a performance tail rail.

Available in 8’0” & 8’2”

MINI MAGIC CARPET

Based on the ever popular Magic Carpet, this board takes all of the qualities that make the Carpet so good and gives them a high performance twist. The Mini Magic Carpet has a much sharper rail line which enables extreme responsive turns and extra control in the pocket.

The multiple fin set ups allow the glide and style of a single fin but can also be used to add side bites for a bit more drive or ditch the centre fin altogether and opt for the speed and hold on rail of a quad setup.

Ideal wave height: 3ft-6ft.

Fin set-up: 4+1: Quad/ Sidebites or Singlefin.

Rails: Round 50/50 rails with a performance tail rail.

Available in 6’0”, 6’2”, 6’4”, 6’6” & 6’8”

THE PONY

The Pony is a mini version of the ‘Dark Horse’ by Maxx Dexter and is similar to other shortboard inspired funshapes.

The rails are more performance oriented with 60/40 pinched rails create plenty of control off the tail. The outline features a soft hip through the squash tail, parallel rail line to a pulled in nose which offers lift to help with forward projection.

The rocker is flat in the center with a bit of vee in the tail to give down the line speed with control off the back foot. This gives the board a smooth line with just enough bite to make it functional.

Ideal wave height: 4ft-8ft.

Fin set-up: 2 + 1: Single or with sidebites.

Rails: Slightly pinched 60/40 downturned rail.

Available in 6’0”, 6’2”, 6’4” & 6’6”

THE DEPECHE

A classic swallow tail template designed with speed in mind. The Depeche follows on from it’s hugely popular predecessor - the Double Dee. Flat rocker, a classic swallow tail and with quad keel fin option make these boards nice and fast on the water.

Bottom turns are drawn out allowing you to pick a high line and stick with it. Stable, easy to paddle and a way of increasing your wave count when your shortboard just isn’t working for you. Most will be suprised at how responsive these boards are. The tail is a little more pulled in, still wide enough to feel like a traditional fish but the option is there to really push them.

The Depeche joins the current range of Nineplus boards being shaped by Maxx Dexter in California, in our biased opinion he is producing some of the best boards around right now.

Ideal wave height: 4ft-8ft.

Fin set-up: Quad.

Rails: Slightly pinched 50/50 rails with a 60/40 upturned tail rail.

Available in 5’10”, 6’0”, 6’2” & 6’4”
